James Webb Telescope Launches December 24th

On December 24th, 2021 the much anticipated James Webb Telescope is scheduled to launch at 7:20 AM EST, which is Friday, Christmas Eve. The telescope is aboard an ES Ariane 5 rocket launching from Europe’s Spaceport located in Kourou, French Guiana in northeastern South America. Live launch coverage in English will begin at 6 a.m. on NASA TV, the NASA app, on the agency’s website. The James Webb telescope is expected to be 100 times more powerful than the Hubble space telescope, so the expectations are extremely high, but so is the pressure as this project cost 10 billion dollars and failure could set NASA back 10 years.
