Trindade Island 1958

On January 6 almost 50 Brazilian Navy seamen including Capt. Carlos Alberto Bacellar and a handful of civilians witnessed several flying discs overhead. Fortunately, Almiro Barauna was a technical photographer and happened to be on board with the non-military personnel. After the photos were taken the captain himself insisted in witnessing the development of the images to assure they were not tampered with. The Brazilian Navy immediately began investigating the event and analyzing the photographs. In an unprecedented twist the president of Brazil, Juscelino Kubitschek, vouched for the authenticity of the images, causing shockwaves to ripple through the country.
