Treaties are an interesting subject, and whether or not we need them for extraterrestrial visitors may be putting the cart ahead of the horse. These types of documents typically protect citizens and set guidelines for behavior. That being said, should we actually have a treaty in place when global first contact occurs? The idea sounds good in theory, however the vast difference between our intelligence level and those that can freely traverse the universe are likely to be enormous. So as you can imagine, there would be great difficulty for the earth to enforce any sort of treaty with an extraterrestrial entity. We are not saying it is a bad idea simply that it may be a moot point. Author Stacy Liberatore writing for DailyMail.co.uk takes up the subject and you can learn more about her thoughts on it HERE.
