Cattle mutilations have been going on in the United States for hundreds of years. In the 1970s these events were at such a fevered pitch that the FBI was called to investigate. Unfortunately, the investigations were short-lived as they lacked jurisdiction. These events, as we reported many times, typically include the removal of an ear, at least one eye, the tongue, one or more udders, sex organs, and the anus is almost always removed as if it was a plug. Legendary reporter Linda Moultan Howe investigated these happenings early in her career and in some ways these events defined her as a fearless reporter. Now, History.com has its own article about these grisly events and you can find it HERE.
